The Reader was very pleasent

The continuation of the fight against tje Nihil is very intriguing. It's a welcomed difference from the original story line. To inform the readers how big the Star Wars universe truly can be imagined.

Lacks everything

I wanted to like this entry in the High Republic series, but it ended up being one of the most frustrating listens so far.

The story feels extremely fragmented, jumping between characters and threads without giving enough context to understand who people are or why they matter. Unless you’ve followed every book, comic, and side story, it’s hard to stay grounded. Several characters show up with little introduction, which makes it difficult to stay invested.

The central plot—entering the Nihil-controlled Occlusion Zone—sounds promising, but there’s very little payoff. The mission never really builds toward a satisfying resolution. By the end, it’s unclear what was actually achieved beyond simply surviving and leaving. Major elements like the Nihil threat, the Nameless, and even the Force-sensitive antagonist are introduced or explored in ways that feel incomplete and underdeveloped.

Overall, it comes across less like a standalone story and more like a piece of connective tissue for a much larger narrative spread across multiple formats. Unfortunately, that makes it feel unfocused and unsatisfying on its own.

If you’re deeply invested in every corner of the High Republic, you may get more out of it. Otherwise, this one is hard to recommend.
