Dr. Shelton Smith, President and Editor of the Sword of the Lord, was born and raised in the World War II era. This was a dark time in which the world was embattled “against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Fast forward to the present day, and the world has exponentially grown darker. The wars still rage as a result of the wicked influence and power of those fighting against the children of God. It is harder now, more than ever, to stand for what is good and right.

Donning the “whole armour of God” as we are instructed, he has faithfully stood, never wavering, as a Christian, husband, father, grandfather, pastor (thirty-four years) and ministry leader.

In this book Dr. Smith shows Christians, both young and old, that they are certainly not the first ones to face hardships and challenges. Through the biblical examples of the mighty men of God, we are taught that Christians will face adversity. However, by looking to our Creator and His Word, we can find the strength from the all-sufficient Source that allows us to keep Standing and Withstanding.
