This is the 1st book I’ve ever listened to by Jill 🤔 and this was the 1st book in this series yet, I felt as if I was missing some kind of pre story the whole time I was listening to this book!
If you have read or listened to her books before maybe you’d have a better understanding of what’s happening in this story.
It jumps into a story almost as if you are in the middle of a book and not at the beginning, not laying much for ground or even character development. I spent most of my time trying to piece together what must have happened before (some vague unknown before story) and what was happening now.
The narration was excellent! It had a smooth, easy to listen to sound!
The details of this realm or land, were somewhat fascinating, but lacked any content because you didn’t really know where things were coming from with it 🤷🏼‍♀️ Who’s are the bad guys? Who’s the good god and is he representing God? Not much said or clarified with any of that.
You literally don’t understand much of the plot of the book until the end when there is a very short “history” recap.
Maybe if I had read previous stories by Jill, I would understand the gods she’s talking about, the good verses evil battle a little bit better but this story did not give you all of that.
I seldom give up on an author with just one book but I’m undecided if I actually want to explore her books farther 🤔 I think if I could find the one that lays out the groundwork for this magical land maybe I would start there 🤷🏼‍♀️

It kept me listening? But …
