Lightning should’ve killed Marcus Shaw.

Instead, it awakens him as a storm-caster—a mage who can link with others and fuse their power into something terrifyingly stronger.

Fenwick University has a secret beneath it: Spellbound Academy, where gifted freshmen train in covert while rival agencies fight for control of the next generation. Marcus is drafted into an unlikely found family—Elena, a ruthless strategist; Sage, a theory prodigy obsessed with pushing limits; Kira, a half-fae shield with sharp edges; and a steady “reality anchor” who keeps their magic from spiraling out of control.

Their breakthrough is called collaborative casting: consent-based links, synchronized spellwork, and a progression system that rewards trust, teamwork… and intimacy.

The establishment is already scared of what they’re becoming.

Victor Ashford isn’t scared—he’s hunting. He recruits in public and kidnaps in private, building his own “assets” from the students no one can afford to lose. When his campus trap springs, Marcus and his partners have one shot to level up their bond fast enough to survive the ambush—and keep Spellbound Academy from collapsing into a hostile takeover.

Spellbound Freshman is Book 1 in the Spellbound Universe: a new-adult (18+), consent-positive, why-choose academy romance with progression mechanics, covert-program intrigue, and team-based power that hits harder the closer they get.

This was a tough title to finish. The writing style mixed with the virtual narrator caused a significant portion of the story to be filled with many halting pauses mid-sentence. Every pause was jarring and broke the flow. Had the title not been offered for free with my membership I would likely have requested a refund.

Narration as smooth as a cat's tongue

you don't get from a criminal review to a academic review in 7 days, you don't go from one hearing for a suspect to a presentation for ability in 7days, teachers and students interrupt a demonstration but only the student is question as to why now. lack story, lack of cause to effect. forced story flow without cause. author needs a editor to identify these type of root story missing components.

too many forced changes no cause for effect.

Good luck keeping track of what’s going on in this book. If the book chose a storyline and kept with it I would give the story 4 stars, but whole sections of the book are repeated with storyline changes and this is not noted during narration.

Terrible narration with entire paragraphs repeated 2-3 times with different storyline changes each time

Most of this poorly written article is rephrasing and broken plot and story points and line.
There are more then a few chapters where the mc dose things or gets into tr

This needs revisions.

author couldn't keep the story line together, one minute someone is a guy the next a girl, without shape shifter. the guy gets busted but then he's right there. nearly impossible to follow along.

writing editing sucks
