Absolutely fascinating

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I highly recommend this book to parents, occupational therapists, pediatricians, and developmental pediatricians—particularly in challenging cases where standard speech and OT treatments aren't helping the child to make meaningful progress. I'm not usually a fan of books narrated by the author, but Robin Abbott did a truly amazing job narrating!

This is a completely transformative, eye-opening audiobook. It relies on a blend of case studies and anatomy and physiology to communicate the benefits of auditory training therapy for SOME individuals, specifically focusing on children. Even if parents and care providers opt not to pursue this line of treatment, this book explores a supplementary training approach worth knowing about and considering.

My only lament about this book is that it's marketed toward parents, not those who have the training to implement and assess the efficacy of this treatment approach (e.g., OTs and developmental pediatricians). Most parents who would benefit from the wisdom of this book are already stretched to their limit, and understandably, not all OT providers are open to suggestions from parents.

Worth it

Please, keep in mind that if you know nothing about sensory processing and/or ASD, this may not be a good beginning point. That being said, don't pass this by if you're starting out, you'll be missing out.
There are so many things that I like about this book, I don't even know where I'd start.
This book was put together with all the heart you could want from an experienced OT, which is even more apparent in the audio done directly by the author.
