As they did, many of them did not know the fates of their own families left behind in occupied Europe. Taking part in every major campaign in Europe, they collected key tactical intelligence on enemy strength, troop and armored movements, and defensive positions. A postwar army report found that more than 60 percent of the credible intelligence gathered in Europe came from the Ritchie Boys.

Bruce Henderson draws on personal interviews with many surviving veterans and extensive archival research to bring this never-before-told chapter of the Second World War to light. Great Story!!

I never write reviews but I enjoyed this one so much I listened to it twice back to back. Such a great story and the narration was well done too!

Missing part of history

For those history buffs, this is a must listen. This story is is unlike most. The courage of what these men did to get to America and then serving in the US Army is a story that should be know more.

Gripping story that won't let me go

Even when I'm not reading this, I find myself thinking of it. I literally spent every spare free minute reading this book! Make sure and buy it NOW!

A moving & inspiring story

My poor husband had to listen to me go on & on every day about what was happening in this book 😂 I was clearly affected by it! The stories were fascinating, educational, sad, at times amusing, & very inspiring! I thoroughly enjoyed this book & would recommend it to anyone.

wow gray book

I've listened to a lot of audio books on the holocaust and World War II and this book is particularly interesting because it a was true story about Jewish boys leaving Germany one way or the other and then returning as American soldiers to interrogate German nazi prisoners .
an important part of the war that we did not know -seeing the cache of valuable information these boys extracted from German prisoners that helped shorten the war.
And realize there are many vivid descriptions of the Horrors caused by the nazis sadism, ignorance and I guess call it satanism-- profound evil beyond understanding

Too long an untold story

Wish this could be read in every school and made into a movie as that seems to be the only way young people learn any kind of history today. Well done story of brave people.

Exceptional

Tremendous job by the author. Im grateful for works such as these. The Richie Boys deserve ever ounce of recognition from their invaluable work during the great crusade to liberate Europe from the clutches of National Socialism.

Terrific account of a little known story!

I consider myself a history buff of WWII but this is the first account of the Ritchie Boys I have read. I highly recommend this book!

Extremely Moving

I served two years in Germany, and listening to this book, makes me wish I had learned more about how the Nazis had effected the lives of ordinary people 😢.
