This newer edition of the King James Bible published in 1769 is usually preferred by most that read it over the older 1611 version. This 1769 edition is highly sought after due to being more reader/listener friendly than the 1611 since many typos were fixed.... Very good intro to life and works of Shakespeare
Having been through several full audiobooks of SmartPass' Shakespeare series, I gave this "Guide to the Works" a try. It is very well done, and gives a lot of insight into the life of William Shakespeare, his style development, the Big Plays, etc. I found it more informative than Bill Bryson's "Shakespeare".
On top of the biography part, there are many interesting excerpts of the major plays.
The one downside to this audiobook is that the last 45-60 minutes that covers major themes requires quite a lot of prior knowledge of plays like MacBeth, Merchant of Venice, and Romeo and Juliette.
