Albert Wratislaw, an English priest and Slavonic scholar, wrote the second book in this collection called "60 Folk Tales from Exclusively Slavonic Sources". The book was first published in 1890, and it is a collection of 60 folk tales. The stories are divided into Bohemian, Moravian, Hungarian-Slovenish, Upper and Lower Lusatian, Kashubian, Polish, White Russian, Little Russian Stories (from Galicia), Little Russian Stories (from South Russia), Great Russian, Bulgarian, Serbian, Serbian Stories from Bosnia, Serbian Stories from Carniola, Croatian, and Illyrian-Slovenish. The stories in this book were taken from "One Hundred Slavic Folk Tales and Legends in Original Dialects" by Karel Jaromir Erben, which came out in 1865.

Great collection

Having lived in Belarus and Russia, I had a lot of nostalgia while reading this books. The second book in the compilation was more familiar because it focused on the regions in which I spent time. While the first book had some more stories that I had not heard. Great book for those who would like to know about Slavic culture. The narration was really well done.

Great Slavic Folk Stories

Although many of the stories contained in this collection were familiar to those collected in other mythologies there were some great, unique stories in this collection that I really enjoyed.

Loved the Stories from my Childhood

This was a blast from the past for me. I loved revisiting fairytales I listened to growing up. 12 months, as well as Three Golden Hairs and many more stories where good guys win, bad guys get what they deserve and wise moral at the end. Narrator was ok for me, he did a decent job telling these stories, but not one of my favorites. Overall this was a good listening experience and my favorite book in the Mythology collection series.

Slavic Mythology

I always enjoy these collections because they give me a chance to learn a bit about these cultures and experience folklore that I may not have before, and they do it very well. I particularly like finding different variations on stories or elements thereof that I haven’t seen. For instance, the story ‘Prince Slugobyl’ appears to be a gender-swapped Goose Girl story, which is a new one for me that I very much enjoyed.

Interesting collection

I have enjoyed listening to this collection. It is very different from fairy and folk tales I am used to and I found it very entertaining. I know nothing about Slavic history or culture, so appreciated the background on the Slavs. Mr. Johnston does an excellent job of narrating the stories. His voice is pleasant and he is easy to listen to. I highly recommend this collection to anyone interested in fairy and folk tales. It will definitely broaden your horizons.

The book is fables from a subcategory of erupoean regional race has the says it covers a large collection Slavic stories that hundreds of years old lay some don't make sense has they use historical or creatures not spoken of in more main western stories it does get the reader in the fill of they's timeless stories.
