Resumen del Editor

Books 7, 8 and 9 in the SKULDUGGERY PLEASANT series – known collectively as THE DARQUESSE TRILOGY, Derek Landy's fantastically imaginative series about our favourite dead detective.

KINGDOM OF THE WICKED
Across the land, normal people are suddenly developing wild and unstable powers. Terrified and confused, their only hope lies with the Sanctuary. Skulduggery Pleasant and Valkyrie Cain are needed now more than ever.

LAST STAND OF DEAD MEN
War has finally come, but it's not a war between good and evil, or light and dark – it's a war between Sanctuaries. Allies turn to enemies, friends turn to foes, and Skulduggery and Valkyrie must team up with the rest of the Dead Men.

THE DYING OF THE LIGHT
The War of the Sanctuaries is over, but not without its casualties. Following the loss of Valkyrie Cain, Skulduggery Pleasant must use any and all means to track down and stop Darquesse before she turns the world into a charred, lifeless cinder.

As always fantastic voice acting (the best) and story. Highly recommended for fans and newcomers alike.

Just a perfect popcorn fantasy

A guaranteed source of amusement in every book, with interesting plot and whilst not outstandingly immersive or creative compared to the behemoth of the genre (i.e. Dresden Files) it stands extremely well on its own two feet. The dialogue is always entertaining and thankfully, Valkyrie Kane becomes more tolerable in comparison to the last book. The fighting scenes (and there are a lot of them) are really, really well written, among the best I have ever read. Stephan Hogan is also an extremely competent narrator and has expanded upon his variety of voices for his second book (overall) of narration and it feels almost as great as Rupert Degas' initiaal offering. The previous trilogy was indeed rocky in both narration and narrative, but this one manages to compensate accordingly. It has a caveat, however - the plot is very soapy most of the time. While the 8th book was outstanding, the other two were characterized by an excessive back-and-forth between characters that quickly became grinding. With the way the 9th book was written as some sort of an ending, I am a bit conflicted on my feelings for the next ones that Derek Landy has written.
