This book explores how the phenomenon of the universal practice of tattooing demonstrates C.G. Jung's understanding of how the reality of the unconscious psyche manifests in day-to-day life. The stories and images of the research participants featured here make a compelling argument for how collective archetypal energies are made manifest through the choices individuals make when choosing their tattoos, largely unaware of the complex psychological dynamics that inform them.

Brian Mayo, has a B.A. from the University of Western Ontario and an MSW from the University of Toronto. He graduated from the C.G. Jung Institute in Zurich, Switzerland and is a founding member of the Ontario Association of Jungian Analysts Training Program

Patricia Brannigan, received a B.A. from Laurentian University in Ontario, and an M.A. from the University of Northern Michigan. She has multiple teaching certificates and supervisory qualifications in the field of education. She is a graduate, and former Director of Training, of the OAJA Analyst Training Program.
