Singer in Many Voices

Desiree Stewart possesses a natural ability to master languages and is a gifted linguist. She also sings and works side gigs in the music industry. During a road trip through central Texas an unknown force transports her to the planet of Tir, home of the Clanntirians. Beings very similar to humans. Once there, the Bolands, a family of tavern keepers, find and take the woman into their home. They originally believe the foundling is one of their own, but learn otherwise when Desiree cannot speak Canntirian. Desiree learns the language of her confused host. The bonds of affection quickly develop among this group of beings.
Desiree adopts with the assistance of the Bolands the identity of a Clanntirian female. She works in their tavern and performs as a singer. However, a threat hangs over this otherwise happy group. The rulers of Tir, the Leadership, possess aggressive plans to colonize and exploit nearby worlds for economic gain. Knowing how to speak the language of beings encountered during this process would prove an asset. Desiree holds the key for doing this. The ruthless members of the Leadership will kill to achieve their goals.
