Knocknashee, County Kerry, Ireland

1941

For twenty-one-year-old Grace Fitzgerald, life is finally looking bright. Orphaned as a child and later struck down by polio, she then endured years of cold indifference at the hands of her sister Agnes. Now, with Agnes finally gone, Grace has found love with her handsome young husband and peace surrounded by friends in her home village of Knocknashee and in her ongoing friendship with the American journalist Richard Lewis.

But just as Grace begins to enjoy her hard-won freedom, a dark shadow falls, and most devastating of all, her dearest friend Tilly may be entangled in the sinister events unfolding around her.

Sincerely Grace is the fourth book in the Knocknashee Series.

The Knocknashee series is one you need to have on your audible list or get the books. As far as an audible, it’s wonderful. The narration by Caroline Lennon is excellent and I’m thinking she should do all the audible books I listen to. The story itself is written so well that it just flows with ease and keeps you wanting more. I love all the Irishisms. And I was walking and listening and laughed out loud when Dymphnas young son, Paudie was explaining child birth to everyone. Thanks for making me smile. Now I have to wait 2 days for Book 5

The Great Story Continues

Such a gripping and interesting account of the war from Irish eyes

I have enjoyed this series by Jean Grainger, but this has been my favorite book in the series so far (I can’t wait for the next installment)!

One of the things I enjoy about Ms. Grainger’s books is that everything isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. The characters all endure the same problems the rest of us endure. They experience highs and lows, happiness and sorrow, just as we do.

I enjoyed hearing about the effects of WWI on the people of Ireland. Lots is written about London, the Blitz, the hateful things the Jews were subjected to, etc., but this was the first time I had read about it (heard) from the Irish point of view. Very interesting.

One thing that would have made me enjoy this book even more is of Ms. Grainger had gone into detail with Richard and his friend (the newspaper photographer) had experienced in captivity.

I am a DIEHARD fan of narrator Siobhan Waring. Her voice is calm, soothing and her accent is soft and lilting. I was disappointed to find she was not the narrator (I would listen to Ms. Waring read the dictionary)! I found this narrator, Ms. Caroline Lennon, to have a very heavy, harsh Irish accent in the first chapter or two of the book. It got better as the book went on. Ms. Lennon did a fantastic job with the other accents in the book, particularly with her English accent.

I am anxiously waiting for Book 5 in this series!💕
