In the fractured future, Instant Knowledge chips (IKs) have replaced schools, mentors, and books. Synced directly to the human brain, they stream data, upload skills, and track every thought—if you can afford them. For everyone else, learning is illegal, books are contraband, and survival is a subscription you can’t pay for.

Draven was born without a chip.
A glitch in the system. A forgotten outlier. A nobody.

But when a stolen government bot imprints on him, Draven discovers a secret that terrifies those in power: he can override machines with nothing but will. Bots obey him. Networks bend to his presence. And in a world built on tech, that makes him dangerous.

As a rogue army rises and the sync cloud begins to fall, Draven must choose: run, resist… or crash the system from the inside.

An unexpected favorite character

The digital narration was done fairly well. Only a few hiccups in the reading. I experienced unexpected joy reading this story. My favorite character was Steve. I really wasn’t expecting that. I chuckled and I giggled. This was a very unique host apocalyptic trope. It had flavors from some of the favorites, such as the Terminator, the Matrix or even Wall-E, but with its own unique twists. This author is extraordinarily talented. I have read his work within two different genres and enjoyed them both.
