Shri Gurucharitra is a celebrated and ever auspicious book read in almost every home where Guru Dattatreya and his incarnations are worshipped. It is one of the first books that describes the path towards self-realisation in a simple language that be easily comprehended by many. Although there are a number of versions of Shri Gurucharitra available in several languages, it was thought that singing the glory of Shri Guru is a process that should never end. There should also be no comparison of any kind as each of them is highly sacred.
Egoism is the first hurdle on the path of self-realisation. This ego may be of any kind but unless it is surrendered to the feet of the Guru our spiritual journey cannot actually start. Once our ego is surrendered to the Guru, the Guru then ferries us across to the other side where one does in reality enjoy the bliss supreme.
This book is about the second incarnation of Guru Dattatreya, Shri Narasimha Saraswati and mainly focuses on the spiritual aspect of day to day life and the way in which one can attain self-realisation. A humble attempt has been thus made to present the Gurucharitra from the Marathi Ovi metre to this English text version.
