And with those words, range war exploded in all its bloody fury, setting off a dynamite relay of greed, revenge, and gunpowder temper that threatened to destroy Neil and the ranchers he defended.

This is what I call a true western

Lately there has been a sad turn in westerns. I noticed a new western say spend a lot of time describing the land to hear how leaves on trees a green things I already know I don’t need someone to paint a picture of the words for me that is why I love this book they described it expensive ranch king owns and leaves it at that you use your imagination and I love that this book after eight years of separation a son comes home only to find he not only doesn’t agree with his father what is the total opposite of his father what king lacks in integrity his son has in spades so when he tries to dry the ranchers and their cattle out his son is not going to stand for it. Although he wants to love his father he is conflicted with doing the right thing. This is such a great book and there is more to it besides the battle over the creek although it was short only three hours I totally enjoyed it and if you like westerns especially the all-time westerns you’ll love this book! They alsodon’t have horse language or anything inappropriate which is like the old westerns also. OK it’s a western they do have horse language what they don’t have is coarse languageLOL!

Good old fashioned western

Just how a western should be! Well written with just the right amount of detail!
Big rancher trying to run the smaller ranchers out, is a familiar storyline but the son vs the father makes this one exciting! Great three-hour read! Enjoyed the narrator!

The story is really entertaining

The story is well narrated and written so that you feel like in you in a western town or riding on horseback or on a old steam train. Great job.

Classic western!

An excellent western set perhaps in Colorado or Wyoming in the days of cattle barons when range wars were a common conflict among ranchers. Our protagonist Neil Wallace, a young man in his 20s, is asked from his mother’s deathbed to come back home after being away for many years to help his father. Home is the Warbird ranch. His father King Wallace has risen to power along with the size of the ranch. King has also attained a violent and malicious presence among the ranchers in the territory. Now King threatens to divert the water source to Warbird, leaving the other ranchers to do his bidding. Neil, the antithesis of his father, comes home to the boiling point of a range war. Can Neil talk sense to his father and stop the gunplay before everything explodes? I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This is about Father against Son. Neil ( The Son) comes home to the big ranch. King ( The Father) is trying to take over all the small ranches. This is an excellent storyline. Neil doesn't like the way his Father is doing the other Ranchers. The book is about Neil trying to do what's right. This is an excellent story. Jack de Golia does a great job narrating this book.
