Great story, simply incredible narration

The story is fun, intriguing, and stoked my curiosity in Japan and Japanese history. Between this and Musashi I’ve been able to begin exploring Japanese history/culture in a very approachable way. The narrator does a superb job, voices really bringing you into the story and being extremely distinctive.

an amazing read n the narrator was amazing. you could see every character as he spoke. extremely entertaining. Hard to stop each day.

epic

This story has made me feel like I've been on a journey for 2 weeks. It is so well researched, performed, and flowed seamlessly because of the magnificent narration. I cannot believe I've never before heard of this novel or read it. wonderful! I would give it more stars if I could. I cannot wait to see the television adaption, but I can't imagine it will do it justice.

Initially thought there was multiple voice actors. Also the story is much better than the Hulu adaptation.

Pulls you in

The narrator and story with all the characters has a powerful way of pulling you in and keeping you intrigued. The book was incredible, but one it had one of the more frustrating endings. Very anticlimactic way to end a book.

Even better the second time around

Amazing all around. Great story, wonderful pacing. Puts you right into the world. Highly recommend!

Excellent

The plot of this epic tale had my attention the entire way. The characters, the political intrigue, pacing, and most of all the splendid performance by the VA made the journey worth every second. I look forward to continuing Mr Clavell's Asian saga and hearing more of his work brought to life by one of my new favorite VAs.

Endlessly engaging, I started watching the show, was instantly enthralled and switched to the book.

Engrossing and delightful

So glad to listen to this after reading the book 45 or so years ago. The performance brought it to life and made it at least as enjoyable now as I remembered, with its fascinating.characters and plot twists.
