The first accident is easy to shrug off. The second makes me pause. By the third, I start wondering if the universe is trying to tell me something I don’t want to hear.

After my failed attempt to end my own life, it’s not hard to believe I’m living on borrowed time. Maybe these close calls are just… warnings. Everyone else is happy pretending I’m fine anyway.

But Everett?

He looks at me like he can see every crack I’m trying to hide... and still wants to get closer.

Everett is my new teammate, all quiet power and slow-burning intensity. When he steps into my space, looking at me with his dark eyes, I forget how to breathe.

He doesn’t treat me like I’m fragile. Instead, he treats me like I still matter, even when I’m convinced I don’t. And somehow, he makes the rink feel smaller and safer, as if it’s just the two of us against whatever comes next.

Maybe the accidents mean something, or maybe they don’t.

But Everett makes me feel more alive than ever, and I’m starting to think that wanting him might be the most dangerous part of all.
