Resumen del Editor

In 2008, Greg Prato issued his first ever book, A Devil on One Shoulder and an Angel on the Other: The Story of Shannon Hoon and Blind Melon, which, as its title states, retraced the life and career of one of rock’s greatest – yet tragic – singers/performers of all time.

In the ensuing years, Prato crossed paths with several key figures who were not interviewed for Devil/Angel, including the actress who played the Bee Girl in the “No Rain” video, Heather DeLoach; radio personality Matt Pinfield; live guitarist Chad Taylor; former Guns N’ Roses manager Alan Niven; and Coheed and Cambria guitarist and major fan Travis Stever, among others. These interviews now serve as the basis for a follow-up book, Shannon.

Also included is a roundtable discussion with Blind Melon guitarists Rogers Stevens and Christopher Thorn, who examine various topics that were not included in the earlier book, as well as interviews with the directors of the 2019 film All I Can Say, Danny Clinch, Taryn Gould, and Colleen Hennessy, and an expert of Blind Melon bootleg recordings selecting and analyzing the 15 best.

If there were any questions still remaining after A Devil on One Shoulder and an Angel on the Other, they are most certainly answered in Shannon.

Love the quotes and story but omg

Greg- these quotes and the story as a whole is put together nicely but the way you speak when you are quoting people makes me cringe and makes those people sound ignorant. But I realized it is just the way you are speaking that makes the quotes sound horrible! Seriously great book, terrible absolutely terrible quoting voice. I would still get future books of yours but not as audible if your voice speaks the same as this book.

Great book

I really enjoyed listening and learning about one of my favorite bands. It’s very insightful and interesting to hear stories of the legendary Shannon Hoon and band mates, that star burned fast and bright but burnt out even faster.

A great follow-up to A Devil on One Shoulder……

I forgot how much I enjoyed this band and after watching “All I Can Say,” these 2 books fit the missing pieces to the puzzle rock fans and BM fans alike will all appreciate learning. What an era of music and what a talent lost too soon. RIP Shannon and keep on going Travis, Rodge, Chris, Glen and Brad (or new bassist).

Great book narrators voice is hard to take

Anyone who knows how much more Blind Melon were than just a "one hit wonder" band will enjoy this book. I got to see Blind Melon with Shannon a dozen times and actually knew Shannon when he lived in Chicago for a short period...so anything I read/listen to about him is kind of personal and really brings me back to those days in the early 90s. Definitely worth buying. I just wish they had chosen a different narrator...his voice is extremely tough to listen to.
