Acerca de esta escucha

This fast paced book follows Dr. Kat in her second year of small animal practice. Advancing from the safety of her internship year to start a staff veterinary position, Dr. Kat is confident and excited. She has gone no contact with her emotionally abusive family and turned to her loving house family and work community. This stability gives her the courage to trust her absent boyfriend, who may either be working undercover or just pretending to be, and to reach out to her long lost, possibly hostile, brother as well.

Dr. Kat knows that emergency medicine will be stressful, but feels well trained and ready for anything, and knows it will give her the chance to help countless animals. That is until she confronts the new entitled intern class she is responsible for and meets clients who scream at her technicians, lie to and about her colleagues, and attack Dr. Kat and her precious rescue dog Max in the parking lot. When her friend is murdered in the training center, Dr. Kat's peace and confidence is shattered. More than anything, she wants someone to help her, but her past trauma makes asking for help almost impossible.

As Dr. Kat struggles with her personal choices and mistakes, past and present, her sole focus is her patients and their needs. Suffering and critical animals in every exam room, with each hospital cage full of pets also needing her attention, leaves Dr. Kat with no time to thoughtfully consider her own care. It doesn't even leave her any time to eat. But she has no choice but to find a way to heal herself, because its the only way she will be able to heal her patients and connect with the people who love them.
