Jack Malone knows how criminals think—because he used to be one of the best.

Once a legendary criminal mastermind, Malone vanished from the underworld after a spectacular fall. Now, years later, he’s resurfaced on the other side of the law as a private detective, using the same instincts that once helped him break the rules to solve the crimes others can’t.

But the past doesn’t stay buried.

When a new case begins to echo the methods of his former life, Malone is forced back into the shadows he tried to escape. Old allies resurface. Old enemies take notice. And every clue pulls him closer to a truth that threatens to destroy the fragile redemption he’s built.

As Malone walks the razor-thin line between justice and relapse, he must decide who he really is—and how much of his past he’s willing to confront to stop a dangerous criminal network from rising again.

Gritty, introspective, and sharply atmospheric, Shadows of the Past is a hard-boiled mystery about second chances, moral reckoning, and the cost of knowing the darkness too well.

Perfect for listeners who enjoy noir-style detective stories, flawed heroes, and suspense driven by character as much as crime.

If you want to hear a professional narrator read hot garbage, this is the book for you.

At least the narrator was a professional...
