I’m unclear on what the book was actually about. There’s a lot of talk about evil plans to take over the world by power, mind control and/or secret data that will change the world forever. But I never caught exactly how this would all occur. Chemically, electronically, medically?? Do they have a formula they will treat everyone with so they can turn them into mindless machines??
I’m also a little confused on the surprise betrayal with characters Blake already didn’t trust or he barely knew. It’s like they’ve been working together for years yet they only just got together when his wife was murdered.
I’m sorry this book has a lot of action but for me not much substance. In theory the plot had great potential.
The narration was mostly pretty good, however I’m not a fan of his female voice.

It was an enjoyable listen. At times I was surprised by how much betrayal there was. Blake struggles to figure out who murdered his wife and finds out she was involved in some kind of computer programming program that is attempting to take control over the world. It’s why she is dead but he doesn’t know who did it or why she was killed. Blake works to find a way to stop the Consortium from getting control. He has allies who help along the way but most of them turn on him at some points along the way. Lots of action and some semblance of reaching his goal yet it ends with the possibility that it’s still an ongoing battle to come.

I enjoyed Dak’s performance. One voice of one of the woman characters was a bit out of character for me. But the rest of the narrative was lively and kept me interested in the story.
