Brett Schumacher is the Worst
The writing is OK, and that's coming from a fan of Lovecraft and other cosmic horror. This anthology had decent concepts but was poorly worded and so overwritten with sPoOkY adjectives that it's almost parody. The worst aspect was the narration, though. Brett Schumacher was awful. He sounds like a teenager yet is trying to voice first-person narration for old men and real adults? I can't think of a story that would fit this narrator, and the YouTube fanfic level of deep voice synthesis is appalling. This morning, I finished Alas Babylon, a beautifully written and narrated book. going from Alas Babylon to this is like breaking up with a beautiful woman and waking up the next morning with an obese drunk with a flat chest.
