Better than the beginning promised

For me this story started slowly and I was feeling disappointed because I usually really enjoy this author. But soon it became the quality storytelling I expect from Anne Perry. Because of the old-fashioned culture of that time period in British history, certain actions from the characters cause me to roll my eyes, and feel impatient. The narrator is excellent, not perfect, but excellent.
