Thank you for taking the time to grow your career with me. Selling and negotiating a good deal is the most valuable skill in the business world. How well you build value and negotiate dictates the profit percentage on the business model. Being an expert at the basics is what will separate you from your peers and allow you to make as much money as you’re worth. This is true whether you are a veteran who has been around for a long time or if you are new to the world of sales. If you are new and you’re lost, don’t worry, the rest of us were too at one point! Only 39% of salespeople intended to go into sales. If you’re a veteran who is listening to this, congratulations! Continuing to learn and push yourself is what will allow you to keep growing. Six out of ten sales reps say that once they find what works for them, they don’t change it. This is the worst mindset you can have! If you’re not growing, you’re dying. As someone with too much college education, I assure you, the more you learn, the more you realize you don’t know anything!

This book focuses on mastering the basics of sales and leans toward business-to-consumer (in-home) sales. It also has a lean toward business-to-business sales. Remember, it is ultimately going to be a consumer that is buying on behalf of the company! Advanced concepts are great to try and improve your skillset, but until you have the basics down, they mean nothing. You can be GREAT at sales without trying to overcomplicate things. Ask John Stockton if you can be a hall of fame point guard without dribbling between your legs!
