Mallory Dunham and her husband Casey were badly in need of a getaway.

Both fifty-two and married for twenty-five years now, they had decided to turn their twenty-fifth anniversary observance into a second honeymoon trip. They very much needed some time away for pleasure.

Each had lost a parent over the past twelve months, Casey had a couple of surgeries for skin cancer, and Mallory had a small breast lump removed that was found to be benign after some weeks of worry. Their only daughter had ended up in court for driving under the influence, interrupting a semester of graduate school, and by the time autumn had arrived they were in need of some time just for themselves.

Now they were heading away from the gradually chilling weather of Wisconsin to fly to Key West for a week of warmth and relaxation.

And reconnection!

Casey was pleased to see the mischievous side of his wife return. And when they talked lightheartedly about that aspect of her personality, she made a passing remark suggesting the cure for her misbehavior. And by the time arrived for them to go home, they had enjoyed the fact that the sandy Florida beaches were not all that felt warm.
