enjoyable

I really enjoyed listening to the audiobook of Julie Bellon's "Second Guess." The story was fast paced and included romantic elements- both of which I love. But what I really appreciated was the female point of view chapters, even though the narrator was a man. His narration did not take me out of the story at all when he switched between point of views. Recommended as another well-created book in this series.

Clean

This clean military romantic suspense had a lot of violence, but it all fit in with the overall theme of this series. I liked the way the protagonists tried to create peace wherever they could, and the romance was sweet. The narrator did an amazing job, and I was able to visualize the story as it happened.

Non-stop suspense

I’m behind on this series, but that didn’t affect how much I enjoyed this book! In fact, I was so absorbed in all the action and the twists and turns that I didn’t want to put it down.

Elliot is a doctor on the Griffin Force team who finds himself in a very precarious situation—he’s a prisoner being forced by the enemy to treat the very man his team has been hunting. If his patient dies, more than likely so will he. Eden is a nurse with her own agenda, which may or may not jibe with Elliot’s. Like it or not, if they’re going to survive, they’ll have to work together.

I originally read this one two years ago, so I’d forgotten some of the details. Listening to the audiobook was almost like experiencing it for the first time again—and I found it just as exciting. I love that the narrator has been consistent throughout the series; it really helps bring continuity to the characters and the world.

As I said, this book had me hooked! It kept me on the edge of my seat because I truly didn’t know what was going to happen next. I especially loved watching Elliot and Eden learn to trust each other as they worked side by side. This author writes wonderful, clean romantic suspense, and I highly recommend this series. Revisiting this story definitely makes me want to go back and catch up on the books I’ve missed!
