Good for anyone not familiar w/ Judaism

The author covers the following festivals:

* Shabbat
* Rosh Hashanah (Feast of Trumpets)
* Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement)
* Sukkot (Festival of Booths/Feast of Tabernacles)
* Hanukkah (Festival of Lights/Feast of Dedication)
* Purim (Festival of Lots)
* Passover (Feastival of Deliverance/Feast of Matzah)
* Shavuot (Feast of Weeks)

This work is very good for anybody who has limited exposure to anybody who was not raised in a tradition that includes these holiday's. While I was fascinated by a lot of the details, their were delivered in a very terse/dense, almost academic, style that seemed to assume atleast some familiarity with terms used. I think a more expanded conversation with more of structured outline would make the narration easier to understand from somene new to this information. In addition, the use formal, religious oriented honorifics, made the narration a bit stilted. The author does make a reference to a more expanded work called The Book of the Shining Path, but I have not found this ... regardless, some form of commentary would certainly have made this work easier to enjoy as well as more conprehensible. The author also references various scriptural passages, but the narrator runs that reference right up against the commentary, making it a little difficult to catch what is reference and what is commentary.

In particular, the connections of the Yom Kippur traditions with the Christian Passion story werr very enlightening. Likewise, the connection of Sukkot 2 BCE with the Nativity was facinating concept to entertain. Of course, the main event is Passover; it is also the festival with which I have the most exposure to; and I still learned a lot.

Finally ... as is typical with most religious oriented text, there is a fair amount of I'm right and your wrong judgement ... if that bothers you, you may want to pass on this one.
