Resumen del Editor

For more than a century, Bible scholars and university researchers have been systematically debunking what ordinary Christians believed about Jesus of Nazareth. But what if the most recent Biblical scholarship actually affirmed the New Testament? What if Jesus was not a zealot revolutionary or a Greek cynic philosopher or a protofeminist gnostic but precisely what he claimed to be: the divine Son of Man prophesied in the book of Daniel who gave his life as a ransom for many? What if everything the Gospels say about Jesus of Nazareth - his words, his deeds, his plans - turned out to be true? Searching for Jesus changes "what if?" to "what is", debunking the debunkers and showing how the latest scholarship supports orthodox Christian belief.

unweildy theologies & philosophy; some interesting

This book would have been much better had the author simply stuck to his purpose...instead we examine myriad of topics all roughly related to Jesus.

staying focused would have helped this book tremendously.

This author gives high praise to Brian McLaren, which will give an idea of theological focus. he is rather non-committal in regards to his view of the atonement. (The fact that the 7 or 8 views of the atonement in a book of this title will tell you that you will read much more than simply the validity of the Gospels and Jesus.)

Some of this is highly interesting. Other tangents were better left out. Rather daunting in scope ...which makes it a pondering read. I am a graduate of Seminary, so i am familiar with all these discussions, but i don't know how much sense the book will make to a lay audience. If you have a high interest in the material, you may like it.

In my opinion, the author gives too much away to more liberal ideas. He takes it as a given that the Biblical authors borrow material and didn't understand the theology involved. that the Biblical authors changed what truly happened to suit their own agendas, etc.
