Acerca de esta escucha
Science helps us to discover the universe and the world around us and aid us to marvel at strange and wonderful things. The greatest human progresses and advances came true when man doubted his knowledge and sought to discover new challenges. What is the good news? That most people are still unaware of many facts about ourselves and that there is a lot of things that we need to know about.
This book consists of eight chapters in five different areas: the first chapter deals with facts "beyond the earth", the second chapter deals with biological knowledge related to "bipedal human beings", the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth chapters deal with facts about other living creatures on the planet Earth (birds, aquatic animals, and terrestrial beings). Chapter 7 is about the earth itself and its nature, and finally, chapter 8 will summarize the seventeen great inventions of history that have changed human life.
Navid Farokhi, M.Sc. in Information Technology, futurist and artificial intelligence expert, lives in Tehran, Iran. He works in the field of popular science and promotes scientific content among the general public.

Want to quench your little genius’s thirst for knowledge? Don’t you just burst with pride when your child tells you something new they learned in school? Like when they can list all 50 states or maybe say a short phrase in Spanish. Whether your child is showing promising signs of future genius, or you just want to have a quiz buddy to help you on trivia night, encouraging your child’s curiosity is always a good idea. Aside from what they learn in school, having other sources of facts and general information will help your child become more well-rounded.

When we see a bird flying from branch to branch happily chirping, it is easy to imagine they lead a simple life of freedom, flight, and feathers. What we don't see is the arduous, life-threatening challenges they face at every moment. Beaks, Bones and Bird Songs guides the listener through the myriad, and often almost miraculous, things that birds do every day to merely stay alive. Like the goldfinch, which manages extreme weather changes by doubling the density of its plumage in winter.

Is your child always asking questions about the world and wanting to learn more about it? Isn’t it amazing how quickly children learn when they’re younger? Their brains are like little sponges, absorbing all the information around them. Your heart swells with pride when they tell you something new and exciting that they’ve learned. Perhaps it’s the ability to recite the names of all the planets in our solar system, or maybe it’s being able to solve a complex math problem. Wherever their passions lie, our Trivia for Smart Kids will keep their curiosity growing.

In this wholly original audiobook, biologist David Haskell uses a one-square-meter patch of old-growth Tennessee forest as a window into the entire natural world. Visiting it almost daily for one year to trace nature's path through the seasons, he brings the forest and its inhabitants to vivid life. Each of this audiobook's short chapters begins with a simple observation: a salamander scuttling across the leaf litter; the first blossom of spring wildflowers.

Challenging what most of us assume to be verifiable truths in areas like history, literature, science, nature, and more, The Book of General Ignorance is a witty “gotcha” compendium of how little we actually know about anything. In the beginning, Earth was an inhospitably alien place—in constant chemical flux, covered with churning seas, crafting its landscape through incessant volcanic eruptions. Amid all this tumult and disaster, life began. The earliest living things were no more than membranes stretched across microscopic gaps in rocks, where boiling hot jets of mineral-rich water gushed out from cracks in the ocean floor. In A (Very) Short History of Life on Earth, Henry Gee zips through the last 4.6 billion years with infectious enthusiasm and intellectual rigor.

As Holmes and Watson arrive in the tranquility of a little village of shepherds and farmers to enjoy a few restful days in the idyllic countryside, strange things start to occur. While Holmes locks himself in his hotel room, consumed by depression, Watson is left to explore the surroundings on his own, acquainting himself with both the local shepherding community, the eccentric vicar, and the local folklore concerning a mysterious werewolf.
