New York Times best-selling author Maeve Binchy has a way of making everyday experiences extraordinary. Scarlet Feather introduces budding entrepreneurs Cathy and Tom who, along with their extended families, meet the trials and rewards of life head on.

Scarlet Feather is a new catering company formed by two friends from cooking school, Cathy Scarlet and Tom Feather. Their dream is to have the best business in Dublin. Over the course of a year, from one New Year’s Eve to the next, Cathy and Tom struggle to make their dream a reality. Along the way, they meet their families’ opposition, find the support of friends, and live through the heartaches and triumphs that come with time.

Author of the "Oprah’s Book Club"® selection Tara Road, Maeve Binchy is loved the world over for her humorous and compassionate portrayals of ordinary lives. Combined with the subtle skills of award-winning narrator Barbara Caruso, Scarlet Feather is a heartwarming glimpse into the world Cathy and Tom work to make for themselves.

I needed a change after quite a few mysteries/thrillers and thought I'd give this a try. I was pleasantly surprised how enjoyable it was. The characters were all very likeable, the story kept your interest and, of course, I love anything Irish. The ending wasn't what I would have written but you can't have everything.

Great listen. The narrator was wonderful. Laughed out loud and often. Maeve Binchy is one of my new favorites.

Loved the story, the Irish humor and the narrator

Heartwarming and humorous, laughed throughout, despite everyone working hard through difficult challenges.
My very favorite Maeve Binchy book.
The young twins are particularly delightful and memorable.
Highly recommend.

Heartwarming and Humorous

As always, Maeve Binchy delivers a wonderful story with believable and sympathetic characters - and even a few you love to hate. And I’m always a fan of a pretty ending.

I liked this story, the reader was super. I listen in my vehicle, so was excited to go for a drive😁

I own most of Binchy's books and reread them every few years. This book precedes another favorite, "Quentins". Why hasn't it been recorded?? Binchy is a masterful storyteller and develops her characters so well that I feel I know them. "Quentins" finishes the story and I want an audio copy of it.

One of my favorites by Maeve Binchy!

Would you consider the audio edition of Scarlet Feather to be better than the print version?

I say they are equal, both are worth having.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ohhhh I love the twins and Cathy, they kept me invested.

What does Barbara Caruso bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She gives depth to some of the voices and speech patterns that I would never have come up with.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I always love when Cathy realizes she loves the odd twins and is willing to fight for them even though her husband who is their blood relation will not.

Any additional comments?

I highly recommend this book, I consider a great gateway that will lead you into Maeve Binchy's world. And all the people who make it up charm the heck out of you or make you want to punch them in the face.

Binchy at Her Best

Pleasant story
The narrator has a delightful voice, easy on the ears, but not good modulation from character to character such that it can be hard to know who is speaking.
