The year is 1976, a year of .38 Specials, and .45 Magnums. Of Cold War threats, and thousands of returning Vietnam Vets streaming into the federal government looking for jobs. Bob Elkins, a third year government man with the DEA, is smitten by CIA newcomer Mike Wells. Watching the new recruit at the federal training center gun range, handling a .45 caliber M1911 with an assured and delicate touch, Bob is sure Mike could handle him with the same perfect touch. Accepting a date for a beer, the relationship between the two men begins to blossom, and Bob is consumed with thoughts of Mike. Thoughts that if known by the federal agencies they work for, would get them fired...or worse. As their relationship takes on the day to day survival need to remain secretive, Mike’s reservation to intimacy, even when the two men are alone in Bob’s apartment, holds Bob in a state of limbo. Mike’s secret past, dark and troubling, continues to be a barrier Bob finds hard to breach. The on again, off again, of Mike’s sexual drive, perplexes Bob until finally Mike reveals the painful truth. Will the truth break down the barrier, or Bob’s spirit?
