AI narration pushed it towards bad

I've listened to other books with AI narration and noticed a few weird things, but this narration seemed extra off. Lack of inflection, voice modified for different characters were not consistent, etc. After a few chapters I went back to look and see if this was part of a series because the character and places are introduced with so little explanation I thought for sure I was missing something, but I don't see any prequel I missed. The narration might not help with this, as it was kind of flat and running, maybe a human narrator would have pulled me in better. I put it down and came back to it later but still decided I couldn't finish this book.
