Sam Cooper didn’t ask to be a hero. She just wanted to survive fifth grade.
When Sam moves to a new school, she quickly learns that Oakwood Elementary has a bully problem—and it starts with Tiffany. But when Tiffany’s cruelty turns from annoying to outright humiliating, Sam decides she’s had enough.
With the help of her friends—Max, Ellie, and Nate—Sam sets out on a mission to stand up for what’s right. But what starts as a simple plan to stop a bully turns into something bigger: a hidden treasure, a decades-old mystery, and a lesson that kindness just might be the most powerful weapon of all.
Can one brave girl change her school by choosing compassion over revenge?
Sam Cooper Hates Bullies is a heartfelt, empowering middle-grade novel about friendship, courage, and the quiet strength it takes to speak up. Perfect for listeners aged 7-12, this story is a reminder that even when the world feels unfair, kindness can change everything.
If you’ve ever felt alone, if you’ve ever been picked on, or if you’ve ever wanted to make a difference—this story is for you.

Thank you so much for applying your formidable talents to this amazing story! The stories of Sam and her friends, her enemies, and her frenemies all sounded so convincingly familiar to this one-time 10-year-old kid, struggling to make sense of not only who other people were, but who he was himself - not that the struggle ever fully stops. Growing into and living in our late elementary school psyches can be shockingly scary as it’s all so new. All so unfamiliar. Safe and familiar childhoods are wonderful, and we do our best to give them to and keep them for our children, but the time inevitably comes when all of that is challenged. The player stands alone on the stage. Rehearsed and Impromptu begins, and Rehearsed and Impromptu fails, and learns, and succeeds and fails again, as long as we keep ourselves striving, or resting, striking out or reaching out, or whatever it is that we need to do, or wait for, to learn who we are meant to be as a person and a friend.
So yes, an amazing story, convincingly and authentically crafted (OMG that voice and delivery!) that I am highly recommending to anyone who ever was a kid, has a kid, or knows a kid (or doesn’t) or needs to laugh, cry, or squirm, and appreciates what it is to grow into a caring and courageous person.
