'Saint Matthew decodes Christianity' is a study of what Matthew's Gospel actually tells its readers, when read as a classical literary text. It is totally contrary to what the Christian Churches have been teaching their believers. The Gospel itself is no longer the Word of God. It is a literary masterpiece of Matthew, an author of the first Imperial Year who wrote using the literary traditions in use at the time of his writing. The bases of Christian Creed are thrown in doubt or denied by Matthew. This is achieved by separating the narrative mode in the Gospel from its expository mode. The narrative mode includes the miraculous conception of Christ, the virginity of Mary, the story of Jesus as the Christ, in contrast to Jesus of Nazareth, the miracle stories, the resurrection of Christ, the inventions of the heavenly beings. The narrative mode covers the fictional and the fictitious elements of the life and death Christ. The expository mode includes the sayings and teachings of Jesus with his parables. These belong to the historical Jesus of Nazareth. By decoding Christianity Matthew tells his readers what is of value for a good life and what is fictional and hence undeserving of belief in them. Matthew's Gospel is truly a revolutionary Gospel of immense worth for Christians and non Christians alike.
