Looks verry cool, I can't wait to trie all of them. Who knows! I might actually learn some russian.

I found the method to be backwards from my past language learning, but it does seem to be highly effective. it was not overwhelming at all.

Before you start...

Would you try another book from Pimsleur and/or the narrator?

A few cautions. 1. You will NOT be fluent in Russian after Phase 3, not that this is claimed, but be advised. 2. The lessons take MUCH longer than 30 min once you stop to repeat material and take additional practice. More like 60-90 if you want to do it all in one day. 3. The absence of explanations of basic rules of grammar (case, in particular) will be frustrating more than liberating and will interfere with learning. . There is probably a happy medium someplace.
Having said all this, it is a fairly good way to get on your feet quickly in Russian, as it pertains to a few common situations. Those seeking long term mastery may want to go elsewhere, as it is also a bit PRICEY.

Not bad...

Great to test the program, see if it works for you. It was very repetitive throughout the lesson which was effective and worked. I can remember most of what they taught, and I understood the conversation at the end when repeated. I am definitely going to go through this again and on to the rest!

Pimsleur is excellent

What did you love best about Russian Phase 1, Unit 01?

This really is the best introduction to a foreign language. While the vocabulary is limited, you learn proper pronunciation and grammar immediately, as well as speech recognition.

What did you like best about this story?

There isn't a story, of course, but the progression of skill is excellent.

What does the narrator bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

There is no related book.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

"The most boring Russian film ever." :)

Any additional comments?

I find that it is best to have supplemental materials, because unfortunately the speakers do not always enunciate. While this give opportunity to hear Russian (or whatever language) as it is actually spoken, it sometimes makes it difficult to ensure that you are repeating the sounds correctly.

Practice makes perfect.

This was a great introduction. I'll be practicing it more though before going onto the next lesson.

VERY VERY SHORT, NOT WORTH $ PAID

I have used a Pimsleur CD which I borrowed from my library. This is one 30 minute lesson, not a unit. Very disappointed, feel cheated.
