Resumen del Editor

Sweeping from frozen mountaintops to dusty city streets, and everything in between, this is the gripping and deeply personal account of an elite Ranger who nearly lost his life "leading the way" in America's secretive global wars.

As part of an elite special operations unit at the fighting edge of the Global War on Terrorism, Nicholas Moore spent over a decade with the U.S. Army's 75th Ranger Regiment on the battlefields of Afghanistan and Iraq. In this compelling biography, a detailed narrative of grueling life on the ground combines with accounts of some of the most dramatic search and rescue operations of the period to tell the true story of life on the line in the War on Terror.

Charting his rise from private to senior non-commissioned officer, this title follows Moore as he embarks on a series of dangerous deployments, engaging in brutal street combat and traversing inhospitable terrain in pursuit of Taliban fighters and Iraq's Most Wanted. Including first-hand accounts of high-profile special operations missions such as the tense rescue of Private First Class Jessica Lynch and the search and rescue mission for U.S. Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, Moore recounts, in vivid detail, the realities of life on the front line.

Rangers lead the way!

Narrator was quite relaxed while reading. Some of these battles need a little more excitment to them.
I am a 82nd Airborne vet. And always was curious about being a Special OPS Ranger. Thank you Nicholas Moore for that insite with this book .

Fantastic listen

Great listen, very engaging book. The presentation and story captures your attention, does seem like there is a real rift between the services.

Respect for the service, but there are better

Good book, but there are better on here for war experience. If you want an insight on the life of service members- this is the book for you. If you want action and to plum the depths of the human experience at war- there are better.

Violence of Action

This is why the 75th Ranger Regimen are the best light infantry in the world. It all starts at Ft. Benning, Georgia for most of these young warriors. John Pruden does an excellent job as the narrator. A good read, to the institution, " hail o infantry "

Awesome point of view!

I loved the point of view and the honest communication of the stories. I am prior a prior law enforcement officer. I try to read as many books as possible from real soldiers, police officers and the muscle that do the deeds required to maintain our great nation. I felt that this book was written straight from the mind and heart of an American hero. Listening to the thought process and the since of duty to his fellow rangers and service men and women... is something I wish all people could truly appreciate. This is in my opinion a look inside a patriots experiences and service to our Great Nation. The book flows well and is captivating.
Thanks

A Modern Ranger story, honest and candid

Since this is a review of the audio version, I will start with saying that the narrator did an excellent job. I purchased this book for a long drive and it exceeded my expectations. I was prepared for your typical chest-thumping accounts of intense fire fights lacking in background details. I’m happy to say this book is much deeper. The author takes you on a journey of his career and the evolution of the modern 75th Ranger Regiment. The author pulls no punches and is blunt and candid with his professional assessments of others. Some will undoubtedly be offended by some of his statements. However, I appreciate his willingness to express his true opinions, and he also provides the “why”. Furthermore, he does excellent job explaining how the Rangers evolved and adapted to the GWOT mission. I was actually surprised by the amount of information he shared in regard to some of the small unit tactics employed. But at this point, I’m sure that the other side is well aware. Those of us who served in those theaters will have a greater overall appreciation and understanding of this book. The author told his story as he experienced it without fluff. I know that he was a little hard on one of the other Special Operations Forces but I didn’t see it as personal. It was more about his view on how they operated versus the Rangers. In conclusion, I believe that this book some be required reading for any young man considering service in the 75th Ranger Regiment. FYI, I am retired Marine.
