During the Second World War, many families decided to move from London to live in the country, hoping to protect their children from the hazards of bombing. While the fighters risked their lives on the front line, their wives and children supported them as best they could, trying to get through those difficult years and live a normal life. During those years of extraordinary heroism and bravery, the families of two well-known officers - Mauris Pasteur and Maurice James Buckmaster - lived side by side in Roxford (near Hertford), building a friendship and loyalty that lasted beyond expectations for over 75 years. In their memories we can relive the emotions and hopes of an entire generation, discovering what it was like to live in an era that made history.
