Northern Iceland, where the Land of Fire and Ice brushes the Arctic Circle, might be the farthest north you will ever get to travel.

Compared to the other regions in Iceland, its North West quadrant might have fewer "superstar sights "to catch your attention.

And the magnificent Arctic Coast Way offers you a dazzling parade of photogenic peninsulas, snowy peaks, azure-blue fjords, and charming fishing villages to discover.

Route 1 leads west from Akureyri through the astonishing Öxnadalur valley to Varmahlíð and Blönduós. You can reach Borgarnes and Reykjavík within a day's driving.
