For years, Dana Parks and Reed Day circled one another as family friends and quiet witnesses to each other’s lives. In between graduations, family gatherings, missed looks, near confessions, and moments too brief to take root, love waited patiently. Each had feelings the other never fully knew. It wasn’t until a chance meeting in Chicago that everything shifted. Grown now, and finally in sync, they step into something new. When Dana is offered the position of Director at the Roots Black History Museum back in St. Louis, Reed, an established helicopter pilot, chooses to return with her. Together, they learn to build something romantic from the foundation of their lifelong bond. Set against the backdrop of Juneteenth and the echoes of legacy it carries, Roots to the Sky is a celebration of Black history, Black love, and the courage it takes to finally say yes to each other and to the future.
