Resumen del Editor

In this historical yet somewhat dramatic account of the Roman emperors, you'll find judgments, opinions, and for the most part, hard facts about the rulers of the vast empire that controlled the Mediterranean Sea and beyond for centuries. You'll discover the disgust of historians with Nero's and Caligula's murderous inclinations, their incest, their sexual orgies, and their betrayal. You'll hear of Julius Ceasar's success and totalitarianism during his despot reign. You'll find out more about Marcus Aurelius and other emperors who mostly tried to do the right thing. Come to a knowledge of the truth of what happened in that remarkable era of our world history.

Need prior experience

This text is nice, but probably better suited for people who already have some knowledge on the subject, so many names and so much Latin. the book moves very quickly and is more grounded in facts than story. very dry material which will is great as a textbook but not for casual history fans.

Interesting stuff

It's a good thing when you can just put on your head phones and tune in to an audiobook like this. Such an interesting issue. I believe I will let my siblings partner listen to it. They have to understand that there are actually audiobooks like this on the market.

You gotta appreciate things like this

The first thing I'd like to say about it, is that the narrator sounded professional. Now, there may be some of you who will disagree with this, because everyone likes a different voice, speed, tone, etc. But to me, it sounded like the guy was a pro. That's all about that.

About the content: I'm not saying that there are no other books out there about the topic of Roman emperors, but I definitely liked this one. I don't know why. Maybe because the author picked some emperors that aren't typically highlighted in the historicity of the Mediterranean region, or because of the interesting details he reveals with each of them, as far as we are informed of them. Yes, the great Augustus, Julius Caesar, and the vile, vicious Nero and Caligula have elaborate, notorious stories that the author does not skip here too, but the overall impression I got out of it, was that no emperor was left behind, if you can say it that way.

Fascinating

My fascination for the Roman empire is once again satisfied. The sheer knowledge that these people lived the way they did, is enough for me, but this book went above and beyond by explaining so many things I hadn't heard before.

Just ok

Just a quick overview with minimum depth. The narrator was not very captivating. Kind of a cliff note version.
