A Mysterious Too-close Twist

Okay… I’m starting to get a little worried for Eve, because every time you turn around someone is getting unalived way too close for comfort. In Rocking It, things hit a whole new level: an unalived body literally shows up in the back of Eve’s car at a small-town festival in Michigan.

Eve quickly realizes that this time, the danger isn’t just around her...it’s pointed at her. So her friends thankfully come to stay with her for safety, because this situation escalates fast. Eve has always had this uncanny instinct for solving crimes, but in this book, she’s connected to the case in a way that feels a lot more personal. Some people with messy pasts really don’t appreciate being exposed, and it’s starting to feel like there’s a target on her back.

The mystery in this one is fantastic—twisty, small-town, and so atmospheric—and Julie McKay absolutely nails the solo narration yet again. She brings the tension, the humor, and the heart exactly where it’s needed.

This installment felt different in the best way. Eve isn’t just stumbling onto clues… she’s in the middle of everything. And that shift made this book so gripping.

This series just keeps getting better!

The third book in the Search and Rescue Series proves to be a real whodunnit! Going to the Rock Festival was supposed to be a night of fun. But for Eve and her friends, things go terribly wrong. The get ready to go home only to find the body of a dead man in Eve's car. Who is he and why is he there? A crazy line of coincidences and some scary situations had me guessing the whole time and the result shocked me! This is a fabulous listen, fun with the friends and exciting to see where it was all going in the end. I can't wait for more of this great series!

Julie McKay continues her narration, keeping the fun moving along. I love that she keeps the voices consistent between books. She is so good at the excitement and bring the suspense up, keeping me captivated through the entire listen. Love her!

So I just finished up these 3 books today and they were a surprisingly good little treat. If you're looking for a short and quick listen of a small town cozy little murder mystery story then look no further than this series right here. Throw in a couple service dogs and this was such a sweet and wholesome story. Narrated by none other than the queen herself, Maxine Mitchell, who if she's reading it I will listen, this series is just what you need to cuddle up to and get your detective on. I loved the first 3 books of this series and will definitely be reading more to see what happens next.
