A true story of perseverance

I'm not even sure how to start this review other than saying that Sean Roger's is a true role model and his story should be looked at and used to guide others. This book will leave your jaw on the floor. This will pull tears from your eyes like a waterfall. It will give you a sense of drive and courage to become better and to tackle your own challenges. His introspection is a humbling display of someone, who to many military veterans, is one of the best. Truly wonderful book and well narrated by the author himself.

This isn't for everyone

This book is not for everyone that will pick it up. This is a powerful read for those who really need it, others might take a few things away. Anyone that has similar struggles that Sean had or has will immediately picked up on that fact they feel or thinking in the same style. I, myself, feel like I have this dragon that I desperately want to tame and know I'm on the cusp of really changing my mindset and life. I need a little push. I always thought I needed someone in the flesh to actually coach me, and finishing Rising Above I believe my eyes were finally opened to a fact zi always knew but hoped to deny. I have to do it myself 100%. So Buck, as I know you. Thanks for giving me that mental push I needed. I honestly didn't expect to relate to your story on such a personal level. Thank you much for sharing all the wisdom and knowledge you've accumulated thus far in life. I'll do my part to spread it with anything else I can add to it. Here's to growth.

A story of white privilege jk lol

Sean story shows adversity makes men. He’s not crying about his shitty childhood and being a victim. Instead he let it motivate him to live his best life and be the best version of himself. A good book for all veterans suffering from PTSD. Your time is better spent listening to Sean then any time wasted talking to English as a second language or limp wristed shrinks @ the VA.

Great story.

Absolutely loved it! Such a great example of overcoming life's circumstances and making your own way in and through one's life. Really loved that he read and narrated his own writing. As a retired public servant, if this book doesn't prove that you can determine your own history. Life is not about what circumstances you face it's all about how you grow and learn from them. Great job !
