Romance

Riley by Stacy Eaton is an amazing romance. Cathryn Royce did an incredible job with the narration. The story is entertaining, romantic, interesting, and more. Riley is the fourth book in Loving a Young series. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. Highly recommend.

Enjoyable story

The story was enjoyable and entertaining. The narrator captured the emotion and intensity of the characters well.

Riley & Ethan!

Every story about the Young family is original and beautiful, but I was not prepared for what Stacy Eaton gave me this time. Riley is a bit of a mess. Always the life of the party, when it gets to be too much, she goes home with her best friend with benefits, Ethan. Ethan has loved Riley forever, and when she turns him down he takes a job that will take him away from her so he can start over. But things take a turn and life changes bring him back home. The question is, will any of these change the route of their relationship? Talk about emotional! I was not prepared, needed the tissues! But let me say, this one is truly a realistic story with all the feels. Riley is frustrating as all get out, and there were times I just wanted to shake her. Ethan is warm and loving, a bit overbearing, but lovable. Taken in the entire time, visiting with the family and living through life with them is a gift, and I loved it. Can't wait for the next one!

Cathryn Royce brings another of this series to life with a wonderful performance. She uses her voice to bring the characters alive and creates all the emotions that weigh on the heart. It was a great performance.

Disappointing

This is the only book by Stacy Eaton that I haven't enjoyed. The writing is excellent, as always, but the main characters are toxic, passive aggressive and childish. They have their moments, but their story isn't a romance, it's a tragedy! Riley is flighty, yes, an immature and selfish woman who is afraid to love. Ethan is her best friend and he's harbored unrequited love for her for what seems like forever, but Riley doesn't see him in the same way. When she goes out to parties and imbibes a little too much, Ethan is there to pick her up and take her home. They are in a friends with benefits situationship and Ethan finds himself falling deeper and deeper in love, but Riley has made it very clear that she will never feel the same way. The old " do I, don't I....yes...no"....mixed up feelings set my teeth on edge! When Nathan's decided he's had enough of Riley's lukewarm, dismissive attitude, he leaves for FBI training without even a goodbye. This is when Ethan goes off the rails and becomes an entirely different person who immediately tries to forget Riley and finds a woman for sex. From that point on, I could not believe that Ethan fully loved Riley. It takes him a week to bed a woman who "doesn't look like Riley" andI felt a sense of sadness after he gave himself to another woman. Then he turns into a total asshat and verbally attacks Riley after his mother's death and for childish reasons. If he hadn't treated her so cruelly, Riley would have shared her "secrets" and he wouldn't have had a reason to go ballistic. This is not a romance. If anything, it's a depressing story of two emotionally stunted "lovers." Thank heavens, Stacy Eaton has written numerous wonderful stories and I know this is a one-off!
The narration is very well done by Cathryn Royce. Her clear, well-modulated voice expertly infuses each of the characters with their own personality and attitude.
