Richard II is dangerously out of touch with his kingdom. He wastes money, raises taxes to support his lavish lifestyle, plays favorites, and cares more about his vanity than the common good. When Henry Bolingbroke - father of the future Henry V - challenges Richard for the throne, it's a fight the king can't win. Not For Me
I loved the performance but the play was just not for me. I was not all that interested in the plot but I added two stars just for the performance which was great. I always love the Oregon Shakespeare Festival recordings. Maybe someday when I see it live then I will be won over more but for now, I was not fully in love with the play as a whole. It wasn't until the end that I felt a little of that magic is usually there for a Shakespeare play.
