Return of Boutone, the Boy Monster of the Okefenokee Swamp

Having been shotgunned by Steve and seemingly dragged into the swamp to his death (see Book One), Boutone, the Boy Monster of the Okefenokee Swamp, is brought back to life by the ministrations of the Mud Woman and his own hardy constitution. Only to discover he has a sister, Gwendal, and the girl he dreams about, Jill, is with another man. Soon, the Okefenokee Swamp is consumed by terror and unseen monsters, driving Steve and Harry to search out and kill whoever has reigned terror on the local community. Meanwhile, Jill pines for Boutone and cannot believe he is at the heart of the killings. And then there is Jeff. What role will he play in the war that breaks out between the townspeople, the Moss' and the watermen, and will anyone survive it?

Return of Boutone

I enjoyed the novel overall. It seems to me that there are two camps of thought. As cold as it might seem, I fall in favor of the elders. I'd find Jack and Cheta guilty of murder in some sort of way. I'd give Steve and his kids a pass as they were victims of circumstance. Yes, William's work did have a philosophical effect on me. I had to camp out on all of the possible scenarios before making my review. I read it twice and I bought the audible version to be sure that my ADD wasn't making me miss any information.
