The last thing Waverly expected at the five-star resort was to be kidnapped and held for ransom while out on an excursion or to fall for the man sent to rescue her.

Kane thought the case would be over once he rescued Waverly. Now, they were on the run, trying to make it back to South Carolina as the kidnappers pursued them. As Kane and Waverly’s hearts become involved, so does the mystery of who is after Waverly and why. Can Kane and Waverly discover the truth before it’s too late?

Another excellent addition to the Townsend series. It fits right in like a glove. I love the new characters along with the twist at the end.

So many emotions, laughter, tears, cringing, anger, and more.

Makes me laugh out loud

I love all of these series. I get them done in one sitting then I’m disappointed when I have to wait for the next one.

Kane and Waverly

4.5 Stars ⭐️

As we continue on with the Townsend family, we get to meet MMC Kane Townsend. Kane owns an insurance company, but it is not your average insurance company. It is a Hostage and Rescue Insurance Company. In other words, he insures wealthy people or important people who are in danger of a possible kidnapping and if they end up being kidnapped, he negotiates directly with the kidnappers to bring the hostage's home. If, for whatever reason, the negotiations fail, it then turns into a rescue operation, and he is the one who goes and rescues the hostage to bring them home. Interesting, right?

Our FMC - Waverly Davenport - was a Chief Science Officer in Charleston, South Carolina and to put it bluntly, she is a genius. Physics, mathematics, science, you name it, she is brilliant. Waverly then finishes a project that she has been working on for years - one that the US Government is chomping at the bit to get their hands on. All that is left is to secure the patent and she will be set for life with the residuals. Her boss tells her to take a well earned vacation and she heads down to the Caribbean to enjoy some sun and some drinks with those really cute umbrellas.

Unfortunately, while taking a sunset cruise, the boat she is on is attacked by kidnappers and everyone on board is kidnapped and ransomed to their families back home. The company had a policy on her so that is how Kane gets involved.

No more of the summary, so let's just say that it becomes apparent that things are not what they seem. Waverly's situation becomes one of the ones that turns into a rescue...and the rest,....let's just say that the two of them are instantly attracted to each other.

Again, the secondary characters and all of the wacky and crazy characters of Shadow's Landing take this book up a notch. It really is hilarious. Church nights where the woman learn and practice knives, swords, dagger, and over all weapon defenses. The two older ladies that make the town pies to get the handsome men to pose for their calendars. The fact that almost everyone has a gun and has no qualms about using them to protect those they love.

It is so fun to drop into this world.

Again, I alternated between listening and reading and again the narration was well done.

On to book 4. Looks like Wilder is up next....

Another hit!

Kathleen Brooks gives us another hit that makes you want to find and move to this town. Characters are loveable and believable even when they are in fantastic situations. You smile, laugh, and sometimes cry as you fall in love with each person, (Well the good guys), making an appearance whether they are male or female, and I love it! Even the animals win a special place in your heart. Nothing wrong with any of these books!

The story moves at a good clip and we see and hear from many of our favorites throughout the book. So worth the wait and credit!

Eric G. Dove is outstanding bringing Kathleens' characters to life and never a disappointment.
