A lawman gets his man

A good old fashioned western where the lawman is out to get the wanted man. Will be looking for another book by this author.

Revenge is best served from a hot gun

"Reed's Revenge" by T. Y. Ryan, narrated by Marcus Barton, is a thrilling audiobook that takes listeners on a heart-pounding journey into the Iron Mountains, where Deputy Sheriff Reed Owens is in relentless pursuit of the notorious outlaw, Boone Pratt. With a hefty bounty on Pratt's head, Reed's sole mission is to bring him back to Cedar City, but Pratt has no intention of going down without a fight, setting the stage for an adrenaline-pumping chase through treacherous terrain.

First and foremost, it's important to acknowledge the brevity of this audiobook. "Reed's Revenge" is indeed a short and swift listen, which has its own set of advantages and drawbacks. On the positive side, its concise length ensures that the story maintains a brisk pace throughout. There's no room for unnecessary filler or drawn-out subplots, allowing the plot to unfold swiftly and efficiently. This is particularly appealing for those seeking a quick dose of action and adventure without a significant time commitment.

However, this brevity does come with some limitations. Given the constrained timeframe, character development takes a backseat in "Reed's Revenge." The narrative primarily focuses on the action and the relentless pursuit of Boone Pratt, leaving little room for delving deep into the psyche and background of the characters. As a result, some might find the characters to be somewhat unidimensional, lacking the complexity and depth that longer novels often provide. It's worth noting, though, that for a shorter work like this, the trade-off between pace and character development is understandable.

One notable aspect of the audiobook that might raise eyebrows for some listeners is the author's portrayal of firearms. It's clear that the author's knowledge of firearms is somewhat limited, and there are instances where the descriptions and usage of firearms may not align with real-world accuracy. However, it's essential to remember that "Reed's Revenge" falls under the category of fictional storytelling, and some artistic liberties are often taken to enhance the narrative's excitement and drama. While it's fair to point out these inaccuracies, they should be viewed within the context of the audiobook's genre and intent—to entertain and captivate the audience.

Despite these considerations, "Reed's Revenge" remains a compelling and engaging story. The relentless pursuit of Boone Pratt by Deputy Sheriff Reed Owens creates a sense of urgency and tension that keeps listeners on the edge of their seats. The audiobook's straightforward narrative style ensures that there are no unexpected twists or convoluted plotlines, yet it succeeds in holding your interest throughout its duration.

One of the strengths of this audiobook is its vivid portrayal of the Iron Mountains and the rugged wilderness in which the chase unfolds. T. Y. Ryan's descriptive prose paints a vivid picture of the harsh, unforgiving landscape, effectively immersing the listener in the setting. This atmospheric quality adds depth to the story, making it feel as though you are right there with Reed Owens as he navigates the treacherous terrain.

In terms of narration, Marcus Barton's performance deserves commendation. His delivery adds an extra layer of intensity to the story, capturing the determination and grit of Deputy Sheriff Reed Owens as he pursues his quarry. Barton's narration skillfully brings the characters to life and enhances the overall listening experience.

In conclusion, "Reed's Revenge" is a short but action-packed audiobook that delivers on its promise of a relentless pursuit and thrilling adventure. While it may not offer extensive character development or adhere strictly to firearm accuracy, it excels in providing a fast-paced, engaging narrative that keeps listeners invested from start to finish. If you're looking for a quick and exciting escape into the Old West, "Reed's Revenge" is a worthy choice that will satisfy your craving for adventure and revenge in the Iron Mountains.
