Love this so much I could literally see the people in the story play out in my head as I read it

Revolution: A tale as old as time

Rebel Rose is the first book in the Queens Counsel series. This first book is also a sequel to my favorite Disney movie, Beauty and the Beast.

It is the later years of the eighteenth century and after having helped America to fight it's own bloody revolution, France finds itself sitting on a powder keg made of hot tempers and apathetic rulers.

It is into this powder keg that Belle frees the Prince of a small and long forgotten principality.

I loved seeing my favorite characters again and the historical context adds so much to the original movie. Without the curse Leo, yes he has a name now, wouldn't have stood a chance at surviving the people's uprising.

I don't know enough about the actual French revolution to speak to the historical accuracy, but as a sequel to Beauty and the Beast, it does a great job of hitting all the right notes.

If this were made into a movie, it would have to be live action, and bringing back Emma Watson and Dan Stevens for this, would more than justify the unnecessary reboot.

The narrator does a fantastic job of not only giving each character a unique voice, but she goes the extra mile to mimic the original voice actors of their cartoon counterparts.

My one and only criticism is the villain of the story. This is a mystery story, for the most part, so no spoilers, but I don't think the villain had strong enough motives or justification for their actions. It's almost like the villain's plot was shoehorned in because some editor didn't think the bloodiest revolution in history Was high enough stakes.

Beauty and Beast Ever After

Excellent time piece about French Revolution discussing Belle and Princes role in giving their small land freedom without destroying the monarchy entirely.

A great follow up to Belle’s journey

I think this series deserves more love. I love the concept and how realistic the princesses tales feel: their setting is a real place in a real historic time period done very well. I throughly enjoyed Belle’s ride through Brittany Pressley’s voice (I adore her from American Royals and Sadie). Not a mind blowing art piece, but a very good one.

It definitely started right where the original story ends exactly how I had hoped.

Love Belle

I truly enjoyed reading this book. It was hard to put it down when I had to do something. I truly love Beauty and the Beast, and this story is one I would definitely read more than once.
