Exploring the grounds of the Family's old English manor, Rebecca stumbles upon a ramshackle, long-forgotten summerhouse.
She enters the slightly eerie, but oh so intriguing building and uncovers a spiral staircase hidden away for generations.
With the smell of almonds in the air, and a tad uneasy, Rebecca allows her intrepid curiosity to take over and lead her up the stairs and into the darkness.
Fumbling on the first floor, her hand clasps an icy cold door handle. She breathes deeply, opens the door and enters a pitch-black room.
The room suddenly fills with sunlight, and she hears a voice from the past and it's calling her name.
Seconds later, she is greeted by Meredith, the lady of the manor.
Inexplicably, Rebecca finds herself in 1853, over a century before she was born, but still within the grounds of the family's manor house.
Treating Rebecca as if she were her daughter, Meredith talks about her sad life torn between her husband George and his live-in-lover, the unsavoury Millicent Black.
Forming an instant bond, Rebecca shows Meredith an alternative way to live her life and empowers her to challenge both Millicent and George.
In doing so, she opens the door to an alternative existence for the beautifully tactile Meredith.
Rebecca's inner voice asks if her intervention has changed her life in the future or indeed, if her world still exists as she knows it.
Her now fragile emotions are dominated by finding her way home.
So, where next for Rebecca? Will she be stuck in the past? Can she find a way back to her world? Or, perhaps there is something else awaiting this valiant young woman.

Author’s note to the Reader.
Rebecca is far from your average 21st-century girl.
When reading this book, please consider that it is written to reflect the thoughts of this fearlessly imaginative 15-year-old young woman.
Therefore, the interactions, thoughts and dialogue often reflect her age and tactile approach to life.

Many have, and this is their opinion:

“Rebecca & the Spiral Staircase' is a great read for teenagers, young adults, and anyone who still views the natural world through wondering eyes!
I love Rebecca! She has such a vibrant, inquisitive personality, sense of humour, & strength of character, but she's also flawed & fallible, which makes her feel real.”

“Loved this book I felt like I was on every step of Rebecca’s journey.”

“A magical book, with a wonderful story
from a very talented storyteller.”

“The main character in this book is a teenager which made me unsure at first as to whether I would be able to relate to her and whether this book was for me. However, not long into the book the skill of the author made Rebecca very plausible to me and it wasn’t long before I was totally connected to her.”

“This story is very different from what I normally read.
It's art.
If you like a book that feels like art with life lessons this is for you.”

“Not the same old, same old. Truly new story.”
