Sixteen-year-old Stella has already had her fair share of "what in the ocean is happening" moments. First, she discovers she’s a mermaid. Then, her mother drops the bombshell that she kidnapped her from her real family. Now, Stella’s stuck in Red City, trying to figure out how to befriend a birth mother she doesn't remember and navigating a world full of underwater politics, which are way more complicated than they sound.

Things only get weirder when she’s whisked off to Central City, where she’s told she’s legally bound to marry Prince Zander. But, of course, the charming prince comes with more secrets than a mermaid's treasure chest—and Stella’s not sure she’s ready to dive into that.

Between a forced royal engagement, a mom who might still be keeping a few secrets, and a city full of people who think she’s the solution to everything, Stella’s just trying to survive without getting swept away.
